School Readiness Assessments are often required by primary schools when enrolling a child. This assessment is generally conducted with children in Grade R and Grade 0 to identify any possible developmental shortfalls that may affect learning and development. Failure to identify these challenges that a child may have, can adversely affect their entire school career.
These assessments evaluate a child’s level of development, in order to determine whether or not a child has the necessary skills to meet the required educational, social and emotional demands that formal schooling poses.
During the process, a child’s cognitive development, physical and sensory motor development, as well as social and emotional development, are assessed.
